S1 History
We first explore voyages of discovery in the 15th and 16th Centuries. We look at the reasons for exploration, the ships and navigation methods used and the far-reaching impact of these voyages. Pupils can demonstrate their skills, knowledge and understanding through pieces like their voyage menu, navigation leaflet and Columbus writing task.
We then study The Wars of Independence in the 13th and 14 Centuries. We investigate the causes of the conflict, the central figures of Wallace and Bruce and, the outcome for Scotland. Pupils will be able to show their skills, knowledge and understanding through pieces like their newspaper article on The Battle of Falkirk, a Wallace wanted poster and a group presentation.
